Hi there loves,
A happy Friday to you and a thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have been reading, liking, commenting, supporting Blog-mas 2019. Yesterday I got sick to the point that I couldn’t function for the rest of the day hence why I decided to share the subject self-care today. This is also why I couldn’t post a blog-mas post. In my opinion it’s something we tend to forget during the holidays. We want to be active, attend parties, shop and do everything at the same time forgetting that we need to also take a break and rest in order to continue. We all have different kind of self-care with the most important point being rest our body and than continue.
During the holidays we tend to get so busy with everything and anything that is why it’s very important to take a break even though you think that if you stop you won’t make it. That is why I had to think twice yesterday and really choose me before other things. I’m glad I took a break (even if I was obligated because I couldn’t even stand without feeling super sick). What do you do for self-care? Do you apply your self-care during the holidays?
My self-care “tips” to help during the holidays
- Plan your day
Plan your days one day ahead. This is going to help you have an idea on how your day will look like and this will also help you prepare yourself for the upcoming day. If you are a plan freak like me it can also help you schedule your sleeping routine.
- Be open that things can shift around
When planning your day leave some time open because if you book your day fully and something comes up it will stress you out like crazy because you don’t have time for that. I would also recommend you to prepare mentally that things can change, an appointment can be canceled, someone can be late, etc. So don’t be to hard on your list/plan. Be prepared.
- Sleep // Most important
Something I forgot was important during these last days. I suffer from bad migraine and not sleeping enough has made me sick as a dog that even light gave me headache. During the holidays we tend to wanting to attend all the parties we get invited to, we need to clean the house and out lists goes on that sleep gets put off. If you are super busy plan the hours you get to sleep make sure you sleep enough because if you don’t you can get very sick. Don’t forget you beauty sleep!
- Take a day off
It’s okay to take a day off for yourself. Pamper yourself on this day and try to rest as much as you can. If you can’t take a whole day off at least take half day off. Believe me it’s going to make a huge difference even at that moment it doesn’t feel like it. Do something you like to do, sleep, listen to music, go to a yoga class, whatever makes you relax.
- Disconnect from the social when necessary
Try to focus on one thing at a time, don’t scroll while your wiping your desk because it will take you more time to do something than if you do one thing and than the other. If you feeling the pressure with all the content you are consuming online take a break from it. You don’t NEED social media to enjoy the holidays.
- Think about your own health first
During the holidays you may get many invitations from your friend and family but always prioritize your own health first. Attending parties after parties can be fun but just make sure you won’t get sick. If you don’t want to or it doesn’t feel right with you learn to say no thank you in a respectful way.
- Do something YOU love
Like I mentioned above you are pressured in to all these things to do that you sometimes forget about yourself. If you want to skip that dinner to finish or start your book, do it! Do something you love this Christmas because we are blessed to be able to celebrate another day, another celebration.
