Hi there loves,
I hope you are doing well this Monday. Today I have another post of Mini Blog-mas 2019. This year I wanted to start with this blog-mas post just because I wanted to share how my feelings are towards Christmas this year. 2019 has been quite a year for me, even though I’m grateful for all the healing I accomplished, it did have its down moments. Normally by now I would have bought my outfit, all the decorations and all the gifts. This year I skipped all this and took a step back.
If we look at Christmas it’s about being grateful in the first place and than celebrating. However, marketing has made us feel that it’s all about giving the best presents but in the busy world we have today the best gift we can give this year is our attention, our affection and our love. I’m not saying don’t buy your loved ones gifts but be present this year. On this one day, put that phone away, take a break from social media and actually be present with whomever you are spending this day with. Gifting someone a physical present is so much fun but the memories you create on this day will last much longer. If you are on the other side of this, the one receiving the gift, be grateful. We don’t need the latest gadget to be happy. Remember that the one gifting you the present put thought and worked hard to be able to gift you something. Show your appreciation this year. And if you can’t gift something is okay. Remember that being present is so much more appreciated by the right people.
These are some of the reasons I took a step back this year. My room doesn’t have to have all these decorations, I don’t have to own the best or expensive outfit, I don’t have to own all this stuff to be able to be happy one day of the year. I appreciate that god has granted me life, positivism, made me stronger this year and being able to enjoy the other 364 days of the year are more than I can ever ask for. I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not gifting my family members anything. I’m going to buy something for my loved ones and myself but instead of making that a priority this Christmas I’m going to make the memories and laughter’s the priority. Don’t over-stress and get loans to make Christmas unforgettable, being together and sharing moments can give you happiness too. Maybe cook together and have fun can be a simpler way to share memories and there are 1000 more things you can do. Do what makes you feel happy this year.
I’m also making my presents or gift giving simpler this year because it’s part of my family tradition to gift something but making it meaningful. Sometimes we share what we want so the others can either put money together and buy one gift or each buys something. We do this when we really want something specific and to create less waste. And if we can’t gift a present we make it known and we are totally okay with it. Like I mentioned above living simpler doesn’t have to be boring, you can still create unforgettable memories. If you are looking for a thoughtful gift to gift this year I will create a wish-list or gift ideas list in another post.
Are you also going to have a simpler Christmas? Or are you going to gift the best presents? Please remember I’m not judging you I just wanted to encourage you to be present this year because many people think the most expensive gift can replace their presence which is totally not the case. You can gift someone something simple and make them happy while being present for them.

We love doing a simple Christmas. We have one child left at home, who gets a few presents. I do give presents to my parents and make goodies for everyone else.
