5 Lifestyle Changes // I have made in 2019

I hope you are doing well this Saturday. Today I wanted to share a different kind of blog-post with you. Since last year up to January I was feeling out of place so, I decided to make changes to my lifestyle. These where also things I wanted to change for so long but I was stuck and couldn’t push trough. So this time I had to!

On one day in January I woke up and said it was enough! I have to change something in my lifestyle or I’m  going to end up in a very dangerous place with my health. So I started to make small changes. At first I got so frustrated with myself because I felt like the changes went by too slow to make a difference. Additionally, I’m a person who prefers no changes or drastic changes but nothing in between. This just frustrates me way too much. Many people say it’s because I’m a Taurus but I still don’t know why. However, I didn’t give up, this time I wanted to push trough and really make a difference. I’m so glad I did this because fast forward to 3 to 4 weeks later I have created changes I’m so proud of and believe it or not I feel so much better in every way possible!

The 5 changes I made to my lifestyle

I stopped consuming social media first thing in the morning

Believe it or not this is something I sadly did for so long and it’s not just me but many of us. I didn’t realize a difference this would make to my day before changing it. Before when I woke up, I would grab my phone and start scrolling to see how everyone else was doing but what about me? Ourselves? This can impact your mood, mindset and many other aspects of your day. So, right now I wake up the only thing I see on my phone is the time and alarm after this I put it away. The only time I access my whole phone is if I woke up and feel my anxiety is kicking in a bit I would but some relaxing music from the app Calm. The music from this app calms me down and I either get ready to work out or jump in the shower. I can have a clear mind and start preparing for the day mentally and let my thoughts flow. This has even made me more creative and productive with my work.

This change also made it easier for me in the morning. Because I don’t spend all this time scrolling I’m getting ready and preparing for my day that I haven’t been late again after making this change in the morning. Amazing right? I totally encourage you to try this and believe me you won’t loose anything interesting, you will gain more!

I started to push myself to drink more water

Drink more water! How many times have we heard this but didn’t do it? I’m so guilty of this. Because lately I have been drinking way too much sugary drinks, I had to force myself to drink that water. At first it feels weird but if you search what can happen to your body if you drink too many sugary drinks and not enough water, believe me you will chug that water down. Now I can easily drink water with all my meals and drink it first thing in the morning. I’m also proud of myself because when I go for that sugary drink I automatically start thinking if my body needs it and I either change it to water or only drink half of I would normally drink. These choices are way better for the health and also it has been helping my skin loves and what a change!

I started to work out 3 to 5 days a week

Something I should have been doing for a long time but I would rather sit and scroll on my phone. Now I enjoy working out, I even look forward to this. Working out use to sound so daunting and stressful because I perceived it that way. Now that I changed my perspective on this, I love it. Not everyday I wake up pumped to work out…believe me but I remind myself how far I have come with this and all the benefits it has for my body and mind. I started with 3 days and 15 minutes and now I’m doing it for 5 to 6 days and 20 minutes. I’m looking forward to make it 25 to 30 minutes. But like I said at the beginning all this started slowly but surely.

I try my best to follow a sleeping schedule

Sleeping, something I had way out of balance. I made a schedule that would work better for me and I’m following it almost every day. On days I feel I need more sleep I sleep in longer however, when waking up early I feel like I can concur the world because I have that much more time to do what I like. I’m trying to wake up everyday at 6:00am and of course sleeping earlier as well. This has helped me with my work, I can journal when I feel like it and I can take my time with my makeup. This is how I’m keeping it up with postings as well.

Starting incorporating healthy meals

Lastly but surely not less important. Incorporating healthy meals, what people say is true! A healthy meal really helps you feel better. My relationship with junk food lately has been way to good so I had to make a drastic change with my meals. Changing these unhealthy meals with veggies, fruits and water had made me feel lighter and better. In every meal I try to eat at least 2 veggies, lessen the sugar consumption and eat less. Now only It’s helping me loose those extra pounds but I have way more energy and feel less hungry. This doesn’t mean I don’t get that burger and fries. I do get them but I either choose one of them and drink plenty of water or simply eat all of it. We can have it as long as we don’t continue to eat it frequently.

These changes have made me feel better, feel happier and productive. What changes have you made this year that has helped you? These changes seem like a logic lifestyle I should have been following however, wasn’t really doing. Once we realized the damage we are doing to our bodies we have to make a change. And one thing I strongly want to share is: It will go by super slow but please don’t give up! Surpass that and you will feel amazing. I hope you enjoyed this weeks post.
