How I Prep My Skin For the Holidays // Mini Blogmas

Hi there love,

How are you doing today? A happy Saturday to you. Today I’m going to share all about my skincare when I know I will be using makeup more frequently or I just want to prep my skin for a flawless look. I don’t do this on daily basis because I don’t have the time to but I try to incorporate this extended skin care routine at least once every 2 weeks. Taking care of your skin is very important, especially  is you are a make up lover like me.

For the holidays I’m prepping my skin for the use of makeup on daily basis. I work from Monday to Saturday for my Father in a family owned business and during the Holidays we are extra busy meaning I want to look re-presentable with and without makeup. I imagine you being busy as well that is why I wanted to share my tips on my skin care routine.

Before starting with the blog-post I wanted to share that my skin care brand is Clinique. Since I was about 15 I started using this brand and it’s the only brand that helps my sensitive and acne prone skin. This post is NOT sponsored, I just enjoy this brand very much.

Now let’s get to it!

The first step in my skin care routine is washing the skin. For this I use my Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for oily skin. I wash my face 2 to 3 times a day, that may seem excessive however, I do this because I start working in the afternoon and I do use makeup. The recommended is twice a day in the morning and at night so don’t forget to wash your face first. Before applying your toner or mask. I purchase my Clinique products at Penha Aruba.

Next I do exfoliate my skin. I don’t do this on the daily basis but I do it twice a week. Sometimes I also exfoliate when I know I will wear heavy makeup, this is very rare though, maybe once a month. In this case I will definitively do it on Christmas Day. Exfoliating is important to remove all the dead skin cells and impurities in order to leave your skin feeling super soft. Don’t exfoliate too much though because it can cause more harm than help. I use my Clinique Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser. It leaves your skin baby soft and I have noticed better makeup application.

The next this I do is applying a mask. I have 3 different favorite Masks, one for each purpose I have for that special occasion or preference.

My three most used masks for holidays are:

  • Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask
  • Clinique Pore Refining Solutions
  • Lorael Pure Clay Mask (Grey One)

I use the Clinique City Block one when I want a good exfoliation, deep cleaning the pores and leaving a tight skin. Keep in mind if I will use this mask, I won’t exfoliate my skin prior for the reason that it will irritate my skin and this is not healthy for your skin. This mask leaves your skin soft and ready for makeup but what I do is use this mostly on Sundays where I can apply a heavy hydrating cream after to make it extra soft.

The Clinique Pore Refining Solutions one is the one I use the least because it can sting around my nose sometimes. This is because I have been burnt with a citrus mask at a salon before and I’m super sensitive around that area. Other than that this mask is perfect is you want to close those pores before your makeup application. It leaves your skin feeling a bit tight but it works perfect for minimizing the unwanted open pores. Perfect for the Holidays and picture ready moments.

The last one is my L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask which is secretly my favorite mask for those on the go moments where I feel I need to use a mask for the flawless foundation look. This is the one I use the most during the weeks or even on Sundays when I want to relax. I feel like this one leaves my skin feeling extra soft and pretty haha. For Christmas this year I will use my favorite L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask for sure. The recommended is to use a mask once a week.

Yes we reached the most important part of the post. Hydrating your skin is the most important one after washing, exfoliating or even a mask. I’m currently using two hydrating products for my skin. I make sure I give my skin extra love during the holidays because I’m not eating the best and with all the makeup use it’s necessary.

I use my moisture surge concentrate first, you can get away with only using this but I always use my dramatically difference moisturizing gel after. The reason I use them both is because during the holidays I use a heavier and very drying (matte-fying) primer. Because this is very drying I use both of these products to hydrate the skin very well. Importance is always HYDRATION. Don’t forget this especially during the holidays.

Extra nighttime care

When giving my skin extra love HYDRATION is key, always like I mentioned before. During the night time it’s very important to hydrate your skin as well that is why during the holidays I make sure I take extra steps for hydration. My favorite product is the clinique moisture surge 72-hours auto-replenishing hydrator. This products is very hydrating, non sticky and amazing for oily skin especially for hydrating. This leaves the skin baby soft.

The last product I use is the All About Eyes Rich eye cream. During the holidays we sleep less and our eyes can become very puffy and this can cause eye creasing which is not nice. This is the reason I love using this product at nigh for the extra hydration and de-puffing effect. Combining this with the 72-replenishing cream it works wonders for your skin and later on makeup application.

Well loves after all that explaining we reached the end of today’s blog-mas post. I hope I helped you in any way with the skin preping for these holidays.

Enjoy this Christmas and put on your hydrating creme before that foundation.

Have a great, blessed and positive holidays everyone!
